I must admit that writing this post took me ages. I decided to start writing about this trip on the first day when we just came back from Berlin to Brno but don`t worry I will catch everything right now.  So get ready for a lot of pictures, I will try not to write too much to not to bore you too much ;)

Out Little Mole Bartek during the long May`s weekend visited the capital  of Germany - Berlin, where he spent an amazing time together with a group of D.`s friends.  If you want to learn more about Berlin and see Krtek`s photos , please click on read more.

Przyznam szczerze, że do napisania tego postu zbieram się i nie mogę zebrać. Przygotujcie się więc na dużo zdjęć, będę próbować nie pisać za dużo, aby Was nie zanudzić ;) No to zaczynamy.

Krecik Bartek w długi weekend majowy odwiedził stolicę Niemiec - Berlin, w której spędził niesamowity czas razem z gronem przyjaciół D. Jeśli chcecie poznać lepiej Berlin i zobaczyć Krecikowe zdjęcia zapraszam dalej.
The weather was really nice during our trip and even humor of everyone remained at a high level. The trip from Brno to Berlin took about 8 hours. We decided that we will buy  tickets from Student Agency Bus (with change only in Prague). The entire trip to Berlin (as well as from Berlin) passed incredibly quickly because of the fact that this company's buses have small TVs on the headrests on which you can watch for example series "Friends" (which D were watching all the way).

Pogoda była naprawdę ładna a i humory wycieczkowiczów utrzymywały się na wysokim poziomie. Podróż Krecika z Brna do Berlina trwała około 8 godzin. Postanowiliśmy, że kupimy bilety firmy Student Agency Bus (z przesiadką tylko w Pradzę). Cała podróż do Berlina (tak samo jak i z Berlina) minęła niewiarygodnie szybko z racji tego, iż autobusy tej firmy posiadają małe telewizory na zagłówkach na których można oglądać m.in. serial "Przyjaciele" (który D męczyła całą drogę).

On Friday, around 18 o`clock, D and Mole met their friends, who came that day from Gdansk. The meeting point was the ZOB Station (not to be confused with the Zoo`s Station, unfortunately, we not had a chance to see it = target for next time. For the uninitiated, I recommend the book called "We Children from Bahnhof Zoo"), after when we finally met each other we all went in search of previously booked hostel.

W piątek około 18 D i Krecik spotkali przyjaciół, którzy tego dnia przyjechali z Gdańska do Berlina, na Dworcu ZOB (nie mylić z Dworcem ZOO, niestety nie mieliśmy okazji jego zobaczenia  = cel na następny raz. Dla niewtajemniczonych polecam książkę "My, dzieci z dworca ZOO") i wszyscy razem udaliśmy się na poszukiwanie zabookowanego wcześniej hostelu.

Luckily, we did not have to walk so long (maybe about 20-30 minutes) till the moment when before our eyes showed up our hostel - Sleep Cheap Hostel  (yes, I know, very catchy name specially for tourists). Due to the fact that it was seven of us (unfortunately Bartek did not book separate bed) we needed to share a room with strangers. The first night was a tourist from Africa and on the second night we spent the night with the company of a French girl.

Na szczęście długo nie musieliśmy błądzić (może około 20-30 minut) i przed naszymi oczyma pokazał się nasz hostel - Sleep Cheap Hostel  (tak, wiem, bardzo chwytna nazwa dla turystów). Z racji tego, iż była nas siódemka (niestety Bartek nie wynajął sobie oddzielnego łóżka) każdą noc odwiedzała nas inna osoba. Pierwszej nocy był to turysta z Afryki, nastomiast drugą noc spędziliśmy w towarzystwie Francuzki. 

 

After checking in and dropping off our stuff, the whole trip started to conquer the big city. Oh I forgot to add that everyone at the station purchased a Berlin Welcome Card, through which we could use for 72 hours (from validation ticket) from public transport and also with various discounts (including museums).

Po zameldowaniu się i zostawieniu rzeczy cała wycieczka ruszyła na podbój wielkiego miasta. Aaa zapomniałam dodać, że na dworcu wszyscy nabyliśmy Berlin Welcome Card, dzięki której mogliśmy korzystać przez 72 godziny (od momentu skasowania biletu) z komunikacji miejskiej oraz również z różnych zniżek (m.in. do muzeów). 

Our first goal was hitting the center, so we jumped into a local train, then the subway and we landed in a place where just 1st of May demonstration took place on the Young Socialists and members of the German Antifa organized that day a demonstration against a Neo-Nazi NPD. Like every demonstration, the place was under police protection, who according to me they were quietly preserved, they did not attack anybody and they just walked only from place to place. The great idea was also spacing outside of the bars DJs with great music so that people can play and dance on the street.

Naszym pierwszym celem było centrum, dlatego wskoczyliśmy do miejskiej kolejki, następnie do metra i wylądowaliśmy w miejscu w którym akurat 1wszego maja miała miejsce Demonstracja Lewicowa. Młodzi Socjaliści, Antifa i członkowie niemieckiej lewicy zorganizowały tego dnia demostrację przeciwko Neonazistom z NPD. Jak każda demonstracja była opatrzona ochroną policji, która według mnie zachowała się bardzo spokojnie, nikogo nie atakowała i chodzili tylko z miejsca na miejsce. Fajnym pomysłem było również rozstawienie przez barami konsoli z DJem, dzięki którym ludzie mogli bawić sie na ulicy.

The next day, The Mole and the whole "Berlin Shore" went on all day sightseeing. The first point was the Alexanderplatz, who was named in honor of Russian Emperor Alexander I. On the Square, Mole had a chance to see the TV Tower (which has seen virtually from many perspectives in many places in the capital of Germany) and the interesting World Clock , from where you can read the time from any time zone.

Następnego dnia Krecik i cała "Berlińska drużyna" wyruszyli na całodzienne zwiedzanie. Pierwszym punktem był Plac Aleksandra (Alexanderplatz), który został nazwany na cześć imperatora Rosji Aleksandra I. Z Placu Krecik miał szanse zaobserować Wieżę Telewizyjną (którą tak naprawdę nasz wesoły zwierzaczek widział praktycznie z wielu perspektyw w wielu miejscach na terenie stolicy Niemiec) oraz ciekawy Zegar Urania, z którego można odczytać czas z każdej strefy czasowej.

 After a short psychological torment (in the square was Primark store - and that day there was no plan to visit him) we all move to the Mitte district, where there we saw the Red Town Hall and the Nikolai Quater with the Church of the Holy Nicholas and the Fountain of Neptune (to the joy of tourists from Tri-City).

Po małej męczarni psychicznej (na placu znajdował się Primark -  tego dnia nie było w planie go zwiedzać) wyruszyliśmy dalej ku dzielnicy Mitte, gdzie znajdował się m.in. Czerwony Ratusz i Skwer z Kościołem Świetego Mikołaja oraz Fontanna Neptuna (ku uciechy Trójmiejskich turystów).

After we went in the direction of Max I Engels Square, where there was a famous Museum Island. On the island, you can visit the Berlin Cathedral (Ger. Oberpfarr- und Domkirche zu Berlin, Berliner Dom), Old National Gallery, Pergamon Museum, the Old Museum and the Castle. (A small tip for you - If you want to visit all the places worth try to book tickets before doing).

Następnie udaliśmy się w stronę Placu Maksa I Engelsa, przy którym znajdowała się słynna Wyspa Muzeów (Museumsinsel). Na Wyspie można zwiedzić m.in. z Katedrę w Berlinie (niem. Oberpfarr- und Domkirche zu Berlin, Berliner Dom), Starą Galerię Narodową, Muzeum Pergamońskie, Stare Muzeum oraz Zamek. (Mała wskazówka - Jeśli chcecie zwiedzić wszystkie miejsca warto zrobić wcześniej rezerwację).

I do not know about you, but our Little Mole is very fond of modern buildings (it is best if they are very high and reached the sky). Now no one should be surprised that the Potsdamer Platz made a great impression on Bartek. Straight from Potsdamer Platz, the whole group went to watch the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. The monument was designed by Peter Eisenman and built in 2003-2005. The impressive structure was established to commemorate the extermination of Jews during World War II. After a moment of reflection was a time to visit (in our opinion) the most popular sights in Berlin - the Brandenburg Gate. Paris Square that day were surrounded by people who took plenty of pictures. Bartek when he reached the taking breathtaking place felt excited on the one hand and on the other hand ..... very hungry. So become the final time to try german specialty. When all the polish tourists were tucking into German sausage, some of them already planned what to see next. On the next "shoot" went Republic Square, during the nice walk we were able to admired the Reichstag Building (the seat of the Bundestag). An interesting place was the House of World Cultures, which, as it turned out, was a gift to Berlin from the US.

Nie wiem jak Wy, ale Krecik bardzo lubi nowoczesne budowle, najlepiej jakby były bardzo wysokie i sięgały nieba. Nikogo teraz nie powinno dziwić, iż Plac Poczdamski  (Postdamer Platz) zrobił na Kreciku ogromne wrażenie.  Prosto z Placu Poczdamskiego cała grupa udała się na oglądanie Pomniku Pomordowanych Żydów Europy.  
 Pomnik został zaprojektowany przez Petera Eisenmana, oraz wybudowany w latach 2003–2005. Imponująca budowla powstała ku upamietnieniu zagładę Żydów podczas II wojny światowej. Po chwili refleksji nadszedł czas na zwiedzenie (chyba) najpopularniejszej atrakcji Berlina - Bramę Brandenburską. Na Placu Paryskim tego dnia znajdowały się ciekawe pomniki koni. Bartek kiedy dotarł do tego miejsca zabierającego dech w piersiach, poczuł się z jednej strony podekscytowany a z drugiej strony.....bardzo głodny, dlatego nadszedł w końcu czas na spróbowanie niemieckiego specjału. Kiedy wszyscy wycieczkowicze zajadali się niemiecką kiełbasą, niektórzy planowali już co zobaczyć dalej. Na "odstrzał" poszedł Plac Republiki po którym wszyscy z zadowoleniem szli i podziwiali Gmach Reichstagu (siedziba bundestagu). Ciekawym miejscem był również Dom Kultur Świata , który jak się okazało był prezentem dla Berlina od USA.

The final goal for the second day of the trip was a district of Charlottenburg, where we found the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Mole and his friends had a lot of luck because at the moment when everyone went to church, there was an attempt choir who made a good impression for all of us.

Ostatnim celem na drugi dzień majówki była dzielnica Charlottenburg, w której znajdował się Kościół Pamięci Cesarza Wilhelma. Krecik i jego przyjaciele mieli dużo szczęścia, gdyż w momencie kiedy wszyscy weszli do Kościoła miała tam miejsce próba chóru, którzy zrobili na wszystkich miłe wrażenie.

 On the last day, unfortunately, we did not have a lot of time for sightseeing, so after we checked out from our hostel and bringing our luggage to the Bus Station we finally found some time for visit Primark (almost nothing bought), Museum of Marijuana, and State House Museum Topography of Terror ("Topographie des Terrors") - documents the history of the institutions of terror located in the immediate vicinity of the Nazi government district and of the crimes originating from there. A second permanent exhibition focuses on the role of Berlin as the capital of the "Third Reich".

Ostatniego dnia niestety mieliśmy bardzo mało czasu i po wymeldowaniu się, przewiezieniu bagaży na dworzec Krecik zdążył odwiedzić Primark (prawie nic nie kupił), Muzeum Marihuany oraz Gmach Topografii Terroru („Topographie des Terrors”) dokumentująca aparat prześladowań i terroru w Trzeciej Rzeszy. Placówka powstała na miejscu dawnej siedziby Gestapo, SS, SD i nazistowskiego kontrwywiadu. Wystawa dokumentuje między innymi również okupację w Polsce. Jeśli chcecie poczytać trochę o tym miejscu zapraszam TUTAJ (według mnie jest to naprawdę ciekawy artykuł).

 

Unfortunately, everything that is good it ends really quickly. Our tour around Berlin was amazing so it passed incredibly quickly. Of course, we could not have enough time to explore everything. Therefore, we will wait for the next opportunity to come back to the German capital (as soon as the opportunity arrives).

Niestety wszystko co fajnie szybko się kończy, dlatego wycieczka po Berlinie minęła niesamowicie szybko. Oczywiście nie udało nam się zwiedzić wszystkiego, dlatego z miłą chęcią wrócimy jeszcze do stolicy Niemiec, jak tylko nadarzy sie okazja.
